CEO & President of Castello Banfi & Banfi Vintners | Italy
A graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and Columbia Business School in New York City, Mariani-May joined the company in 1993. She became Barfi's sole CEO and president in 2018, also at the helm of Banfi Vintners, the global brand that includes the firm.
Her drive and willingness to experiment have led to a number of innovations, like those hybrid fermentation tanks. She's also implemented sustainable practices that include a “bio-bed” system to detoxify wastewater at Castello Banfi and a switch to lighter-weight bottles that reduce the winery's carbon footprint.

The Estate was founded in the late 19th century. In 1973 La Stoppa was bought by the Pantaleoni family, and from 1991, Elena Pantaleoni leads the company. Elena, flanked by Giulio Armani, focused the work in the vineyards on organic agriculture, drastically changing the winemaking approach since her arrival.
She began a project with wine consultant Guilo Armani, planting Bonarda, Barbera, Trebbiano and Malvasia Candia, the local grape varieties best suited to the climate and soil of the Colli Piacentini region which had been out of fashion for so long.
Owner of Domaine Des Aromes | China
Domaine Des Aromes is the smallest boutique winery among China's registered estates. Since 2011, Sun Miao started her winery in Ning Xia with strong belief in biodynamic viticulture. Under her supervision, she led the team to explore biodynamic practice, avoiding the use of all chemical or pesticides. The wastes during the winemaking will be used to make the soap.
Her commitment to the environment protection ensured the healthy development of winery.
